Our documentary feature film ‘Temps i espai. One day rises, 2018-2022‘ has been premiered at the Valencia Film Library this Thursday, December 15, 2022, directed by the musician and filmmaker Joan Gómez Alemany.
In line with the documentary The quince sun (1992) by Victor Erice, Time and space. Un dia s'eleva, 2018-2022, records over 4 years how the painter Josep-Marí Gómez Lozano repaints a painting by his father, Vicente Gómez García.
In a modest studio in the Ruzafa neighborhood in Valencia, which dates back to the end of the 19th century, the painter Josep-Marí Gómez Lozano is filmed over several years, repainting a canvas by his father, Vicente Gómez García. This represents a 360° panoramic view of Valencia seen from the Micalet, a painting that we will see how it will finally be hung in the Exhibition Hall of the Valencia City Council.
In the post-war period, the painter Vicente Gómez García was one of the artistic innovators of the conservative Valencian scene, founder and member of the avant-garde group Los Siete, along with Vicente Castellano, Vicente Fillol, Juan Genovés, Ricardo Hueso, Juan Bautista Llorens and José Masiá.
The painter's work day passes calmly while watching the evolution of the painting and the gradual transformations of its surroundings: the different lights of the day, the changes of seasons during the year and the remodeling of the neighborhood with its new buildings.
A reflection on time and space, in a film that moves between documentary and fiction, that explores the relationships between cinema and painting and meditates on the evolution of the city.
