Within the framework of the 50th edition of the FILMETS Badalona Film Festival, Shoji Films has received the PAC Emergent Producer Award 2024. He has achieved it for the short film Dema, directed by Estefanía Ortiz, which was competing in the official section of the festival. The producer Ruben Seca He received the award, granted by the PAC Producers Associations of Catalonia, on October 27 at the closing gala of the festival, the Nit dels Venus.
The jury, composed of Andreu Comerma (Rio Bravo Trailers), Cristina Pineda (Possible Films) and Antonio Lama (Off-Field Films), praised the "remarkable effort in creating a short film in the Original Catalan Version, with the support of various public subsidies, closing agreements with a distributor and filmed in various locations in Catalonia. In addition, the jury recognized the technical complexity of the filming and the impeccable balance between production and script, which deals with a story between siblings with elegance and subtlety. The project stands out for its excellent visual quality, reinforced by camera movement and lighting, as well as by the strength of its performances." Dema It is a fictional short film set in 1994 that tells the story of the summer that will change everything for two brothers: the youngest, Lucas, starts school and will have to accept that his older brother, Bruno, who has Down syndrome, will not accompany him on this new adventure.
